a：Still life [Apple made]

On a tabletop, an artificial apple made of layered materials rotates at high speed, powered by a motor. Next to it sits a real apple, still and silent.
Both are, in different ways, “made”—one by the artist’s hand, the other by agricultural cultivation. Yet they each follow distinct paths of transformation:
The artificial apple is animated into visible change through rapid movement; the natural apple decays slowly, almost invisibly, as time passes.

This work places these dual processes side by side, asking what it means to change, to age, or to be alive. It quietly unsettles the boundary between nature and artifice, inviting viewers to consider the multiple temporalities that shape our perceptions of objects and life.

机の上に配置された人工の林檎型オブジェがモーターによって高速回転する。その隣には、実際の果物である林檎が並べられている。人工物と自然物、どちらも「つくられたもの」であるこの二つの林檎は、異なる速度でそれぞれに変化し続けている。一方は作家の手によって作られ、運動による視覚的な変化を繰り返し、もう一方は時間とともに目に見えぬ速度で腐敗へと向かう。本作は、「自然」と「人工」の境界にある曖昧さと、変化という現象の複数の時間軸を同時に提示している。

b：The Star Rolling on the Planet or a Sliced Light

惑星の上で転げる星、あるいは輪切りにされた光

This disc-shaped sculpture features an internal structure based on a pentagram. The motif was inspired by the rare star-shaped cross-section sometimes seen when an apple is sliced, expanding into the sculptural idea of “a sliced light.”
By overlaying the universally familiar symbol of the star—something anyone can draw—with the latent geometry found within fruit, the work brings together structures of vision and structures of nature in a single form.

 五芒星の構造を内部に持つ、円盤状の立体作品。モチーフは、リンゴを輪切りにしたときに稀に現れる星型の断面であり、そこから“光の輪切り”という造形的発想へと展開されている。誰もが描ける図像としての「星」と、果実内部に宿る幾何形態が重ね合わされ、視覚と自然の構造が交錯するかたちとなっている。

c：Light apple
2023 / Sculpture / Balsa wood, apple stem

This work is a lightweight, apple-shaped object carved from balsa wood. Its stem, however, is real—taken from an actual apple. The natural curve of the stem retains the memory of having once hung downward under the force of gravity, its shape preserving a trace of that orientation in space and time.
The piece holds a dual significance: it is both an image of an apple as a visual symbol, and an object traditionally understood through its weight and physical substance. By intentionally introducing a discrepancy between vision and touch, the work invites a subtle dissonance in sensory perception.
Using the universally recognizable motif of the apple, the artist foregrounds the unsettling experience of “lightness” upon touch. In doing so, the work destabilizes our assumptions about material presence and the very structure of how we perceive and understand objects.

本作は、バルサ材でかたどられた非常に軽量なリンゴ型のオブジェである。蔕（へた）の部分には、本物のリンゴの蔕が使用されている。蔕はかつて実際の果実が重力に従って垂れ下がっていた記憶を保持しており、その痕跡が形状に刻まれている。 本作は、視覚的イメージとしての「リンゴ」と、質量を伴う象徴としての「りんご」という二重の意味を内包し、視覚と触覚のあいだにある感覚の齟齬を意図的に生み出している。 誰もが知るモチーフとしてのリンゴを用いながら、手に取った瞬間の「軽さ」がもたらす違和感を通じて、物の実在性や知覚の構造そのものに揺らぎを生じさせる作品である。

d：Stargazing a.k.a Golden stick
よにほしをのぞく

This slender, hexagonal tube gradually narrows toward one end.
When a viewer holds the object and peers into its interior, searching for light within the surrounding space, they may eventually discover a small glimmer deep in the darkness—twinkling like a distant star.
The work evokes the image of a telescope used to observe the night sky, while also symbolizing the active visual engagement of humans seeking light in the dark.
By focusing on the directionality of seeing and the bodily posture involved in grasping light, the piece questions the very structure of vision and the workings of perception.

六角形の断面を持つ細長い筒状の作品で、片端に向かって徐々に細くなっていく形状をしている。 鑑賞者がこの筒を手に取り、内部を覗き込みながら空間の中に光を探すと、やがて暗闇の奥に、星のようにきらりと瞬く小さな光を見つけることができる。 本作は、星を観測するための望遠鏡を思わせると同時に、暗闇の中で光を探し出そうとする人間の能動的な視覚行為そのものを象徴している。 「見る」という行為の方向性、そして光を捉えようとする身体の姿勢に注目し、視覚の構造や知覚の働きそのものに問いを投げかける作品である。 ________________________________________________________________________________

Hole state [graviton]

2022 / Painting (set of 4 works) / Linen on wooden panel, acrylic paint, silver leaf

This work is a variable series composed of triangular wooden panels. In each exhibition, the arrangement and angle of installation change; in this particular showing, the panels appear to float midair within the space.
The title includes the word “graviton,” a hypothetical elementary particle believed to mediate the force of gravity—though its existence has yet to be observed. Engaging imaginatively with this invisible particle, the artist incorporates gravity into the very act of painting: exploring how pigment drips downward across the support, and how the composition itself behaves spatially under gravitational influence.
Through this process, the work investigates the relationship between matter, perception, and the invisible forces that shape both image and space.

三角形の木製パネルによって構成された可変的なシリーズ作品。各展示において構成や設置角度が変化し、本展では空間に中有に浮くかのように配置された。
タイトルに含まれる“graviton（重力子）”は、重力を媒介する仮説上の素粒子であり、現時点ではその存在は観測されていない。作家はこの不可視の粒子の存在に想像的に触れながら、重力そのものを描画行為に組み込み、支持体に対して絵具が「垂れ落ちる」運動や、絵画の構成が空間においてどう振る舞うかといった関係性を探っている。
